Library Programs

In this day and age, a Library needs to be more than just books. We pride ourselves in paying close attention to our patron's needs. Because of this commitment, the Brillion Public Library is a dynamic, interactive place to learn, to discover, and to explore. No matter what your age or interest, we have a program that is just right for you.


Afterschool Programs

Open to all youth K-Grade 4. Program takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 3:30 pm. Program features a monthly theme and includes games, contests, craft and refreshments furnished by the Friends.

Battle of the Books

Open to youth in grades 7-12. Each year a Brillion Team of youth participates in a Manitowoc-Calumet Library System Battle of the books contest. Youth are given the titles at the beginning of the summer. Coaches work with the youth on the books. A System competition takes place at the end of summer.

Book Talking

Discussion groups meets once a month on a Tuesday(usually the 4th Tuesday of the month) at 1:30 p.m. Group suggests titles of books that are read by the group and discussed.

Culver's Draw a Picture Program

Program takes place during the month of April. Open to youth age 10 and under. Youth submit a picture on a special form and receive a coupon from Culvers. All entries submitted are placed in a drawing for other donated prizes.

Genealogy

The Library hosts a quarterly Genealogy session. Programs take place on the first Wednesday of the month (March/June/September/December) at 1:30 p.m. Program is open to anyone interested in genealogy, family history or local history. Anyone with an interest in Genealogy can be a part of the library’s genealogy email list. Receive information of genealogy related topics. Sign up at the library or send an email to the library expressing your interest in genealogy.

Internet and Computer Exploration Classes

The library offers basic computer and Internet exploration classes at various times throughout the year. Watch for notices of upcoming sessions.

Displays!

The Library offers the public the opportunity to put a display in the library’s display case. Displays are in the case for a one month period. If you are interested in putting up a display, contact the library.

Milwaukee Bucks Read-To-Achieve

Youth in grades 3-10 can earn a free ticket to a Milwaukee Bucks game by reading. Program usually starts in January and runs into February. Youth sign up to participate at the library.

Munch-a-Movies

Open to the public. Program takes place in February and March of the year on Tuesdays at noon. The Library shows a feature on the screen. The public brings their lunch and enjoys coffee furnished by the library.

"Let's Pretend" Storytime

Open to all youth preschool through Kindergarten age. Programs last between 30 and 45 minutes and consist of a variety of stories, songs, fingerplays, crafts and other activities. Join us on either Mondays at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.. The Library runs 2 sessions every year with a special summer storytime which includes 2 programs on Tuesdays at 9:30 and 12:30.

Summer Movies

Open to the public. Program takes during the summer and on Mondays at 1:30 a.m. A full length movie is shown on the screen.

Summer Reading Program

The Library presents a summer reading program for the whole family. Read-to-me programs for those who aren’t able to read to reading programs for readers, summer is a busy time at the library. The library also offers weekly storytimes, family programs and programs for select age groups.
Timber Rattler Reading Program

Open to youth in K-Grade 5. Youth read for 4 weeks and earn a ticket to a special Timber Rattler game in August.

Wii Gaming

The library presents monthly Wii gaming on a Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Youth of all ages are invited to come and play the game of their choice. The library also hosts gaming tournaments for teens during the year.
